SHINE LIKE SPENCER AWARD
This award recognizes a student who embodies extraordinary qualities of kindness, acceptance, self-sacrifice, service and the "friend-to-all" attitude that characterized Spencer's mindset.
Spencer's parents, Mark and Debbie Bacus, have established a monetary award in honor of their son, Spencer Bacus (Class of 2012). The “Shine Like Spencer” award will be presented to a Roxana graduating Senior who intends to pursue post high school education (University, Community College, Trade School or Military).
This award will be based on Faculty/Staff recommendations of students who display the extraordinary qualities of kindness, acceptance, self-sacrifice, service, and the “friend-to-all” attitude that characterized Spencer’s mindset and his lifestyle.
The Bacus family is asking that faculty and staff keep their eyes and ears open for students who are consistently and inherently kind to others. After Spencer’s passing, his family received many notes from people of all ages, ethnicities, genders and socio-economic backgrounds whose lives were positively changed by Spencer’s selfless acts of kindness.
Every year, the Bacus family hopes to recognize a student who embodies these same noble attributes with the “Shine Like Spencer” award, based on the nominations and input from the administration, faculty, and staff of Roxana High School.
The Roxana High guidance department will manage nominations.
The Bacus family wants to thank you in advance for seeing the good in our students and for always remembering to #ShineLikeSpencer.
